Former Volunteers Share their Stories from Abroad

On March 15 2018, a Cocktail about Voluntary Cooperation was organised by the International Bureau for Children’s Rights at the Lobby Bar, in Montreal. More than fifty people have attended the presentations of two former volunteers, Meryem Zhiri deployed to Morocco as a Management and Fundraising Advisor and Dorra Bannouri, deployed in Tunisia as a Child Protection Policy Advisor.

This evening was a great opportunity to inform the public about the challenges, on-the-ground realities as well as key learnings that a volunteer cooperation mandate can provide abroad. Punctuated by testimonials and anecdotes, the presentations of the two volunteers genereated great interest from the public. Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to speak with the former volunteers the IBCR’s Volunteer Cooperation Project Officer to learn more about future mandates.
