Exchange of Expertise and Good Practices with Costa Rica

This week, the IBCR welcomed the judge Brisa Campbell as part of the Institutional Reinforcement Project to Combat Human Trafficking. During her stay, Judge Campbell made a presentation on the human trafficking situation in Costa Rica, and met with various experts on the matter and organisations dealing with victims. These include Anne-Marie Otis, judge for the Youth Division, Philippe Tremblay from Lawyers without Borders (LWBC), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The week ended with interviews with Josée Mensales, founder of the program Les Survivantes (the survivors) from the SPVM and Lynn Dion from The Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (MWI IUHSSC).

These numerous meetings encouraged the exchange of good practices and allowed a transfer of knowledge and expertise on protection, vigilance, research and prosecution of crimes on human trafficking, especially involving minors.
