Several workshops with important actors of the child protection system are currently taking place in Honduras. More precisely, these workshops are happening in the Western area of the country in the city of Santa Rosa de Copan, up North in the city of San Pedro Sula and in the capital, Tegucigalpa. Our project manager, Julie Potvin-Lajoie and the senior programme manager Svava Bergman joined the project coordinator Sergio Bahr to support the pooling of exchanges and observations exposed by the police, the lawyers, and other public servants and professionals.
These workshops provide spaces of exchange that allow the most important actors of the justice system to expose and discuss their experiences, concerns and recommendations related to the children’s protection system in Honduras. In fact, the conclusions resulting after these discussions will be used to write a report on the current children’s protection system in the country, considering the realities of the operators and participants in the system. The report will also take into account the needs of the professionals of the system regarding the reinforcement of their capacities, so they can prioritise the children’s rights in their daily work.
