Attend our conference “30 years of child’s rights: progress and challenges”

2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), an opportunity to take a look back on the last decades and assess the situation on children’s rights accross the globe.

Organised by the IBCR and McGill University Faculty of Law, this conference will gather internationally renowned experts in the field of children’s rights and with the exceptional participation of the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, Ms. Najat Maalla M’Jid.

The panel will review the progress made since the creation of the CRC 30 years ago and discuss current matters and situations to assess the achievements and challenges still pending regarding children’s rights worlwide, such as :

  • The UN mandate to fight violence against children
  • Strengthening the justice system for children in Africa
  • Lessons learned from the refugee crisis in Europe
  • The intersection between violence against children and child participation: policies and practice
