Strategic and Organizational Planning Advisor

Summary of the offer

Under the responsibility of the regional manager, the volunteer fulfills his/her mandate with the partner organization, the PANIAMOR Foundation, to ensure the implementation of capacity building activities within the framework of the volunteer cooperation program. The volunteer actively participates in the VCP activities in order to achieve the expected and planned results of the program during his/her mandate at PANIAMOR. The person also contributes to the elaboration of reports and communication articles related to the activities developed and implemented during his/her mandate.

ABOUT THE PARTNER

PANIAMOR ia a Costa Rican civil society organization, non-profit, non-partisan, technical and preventive, created in 1987 and declared of public interest for the purposes of the Costa Rican State in 1989. PANIAMOR works to incorporate the culture of children's and adolescents' rights into the political and social action of the Costa Rican nation. To this end, it builds visionary alliances with key actors (public institutions, businesses, civil society, universities, among others) from multiple sectors, based on shared values, common interests and complementary capacities.
PANIAMOR and its partners develop relevant, effective, and evidence-based models that can be scaled up through public policies and programs, thereby facilitating the strengthening of the country's capacity to address the violence and exclusion prevalent in the lives of children and adolescents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the realization of the project implementation activities and consolidate the relationship of trust with the partner organization;
  • Analyze the foundations of the partner's strategic identity, mainly the mission and vision, values and value propositions, from a higher level of organizational strategic thinking,
  • Identify strategic axes that respect international reference frameworks such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs / Agenda 20-30);
  • Make recommendations on the organization's strategic identity in order to propose adjustments to the future strategic plan;
  • Support the partner through participatory trainings for team members and collaborators of the Paniamor Foundation in order to develop the theory of change that will underpin the new five-year strategic plan;
  • Support the organisationin the realization of training sessions for team members and collaborators of the Paniamor Foundation in order to define its strategic objectives according to the SMART criteria for the next 5 years;
  • Conduct a portrait of the main advances and challenges in Costa Rica and the Central American region in terms of respect for the rights of children and adolescents in light of reference frameworks such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/Agenda 20-30), in order to provide the partner with an overview of its possible international projection as part of the development of its new five-year strategic plan;
  • Develop a proposed methodology to support the organisation in developing the monitoring and evaluation plan for the new five-year strategic plan, including indicator sheets for the strategic and tactical objectives, a monitoring system, and the structure of the document with the components it should contain.
  • Support Paniamor to ensure that its members are equipped to implement the proposed methodology for monitoring and evaluating the strategic plan;
    Submit reports on the progress of activities carried out in collaboration with the partner organization.
  • Under the responsibility of the regional manager, the cooperating person fulfills his/her mandate with the partner organization, the PANIAMOR Foundation, to ensure the implementation of capacity building activities within the framework of the volunteer cooperation program. The cooperant actively participates in the VCP activities in order to achieve the expected and planned results of the program during his/her mandate at PANIAMOR. The incumbent also contributes to the elaboration of reports and communication articles related to the activities developed and implemented during his/her mandate.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in areas such as strategic management, social planning or related fields;
  • Professional experience in strategic planning and forward thinking processes in projects and social organizations;
  • Knowledge of the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs (Agenda 20-30);
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish. The person must be able to write, edit, comment and correct texts in Spanish;
  • Ability to work independently, but in coordination with different areas and to multi-task;
  • Strong analytical and writing skills;
  • Availability to travel to Costa Rica.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and interest in guaranteeing and protecting the rights of children and adolescents;
  • Experience working in a developing country;
  • Knowledge of the volunteer cooperation program;
  • Knowledge of international development issues;
  • Knowledge of gender equality principles;
  • Knowledge of results-based management;
  • Knowledge of security measures in international cooperation.
