Social Work Advisor

Duration of the mandate: 10 months



Under the responsibility of the PRIDE Regional Manager, the volunteer advisor will carry out his/her mandate with the partner organisation to ensure the implementation of individual and organisational capacity building activities within the framework of the volunteer cooperation programme. The candidate will advise, assist and provide technical support to the partner organisation's team in their reflections and work around social work.  He/She will also contribute to the development of communication reports and articles related to the activities developed and implemented during his/her mandate.



  • Support the partner organisation's capacity building in child psychosocial development;
  • Support the capacity building of the partner organisation in communicating with children in conflict with the law and/or children who are victims of violence, abuse or exploitation;
  • Provide support for the integration and assessment of children in collaboration with the psychologist or other professionals;
  • Support the development of tools and processes for children and support in collaboration with the social work and/or psychology team;
  • Provide technical assistance to the staff of the partner organisation on the rights of children in conflict with the law and/or child victims of violence, abuse or exploitation;
  • Accompany the partner organisation in the implementation and evaluation of the acquired skills;
  • Provide technical assistance to staff in developing awareness-raising sessions for children on the rights of minors in conflict with the law and/or child victims of violence, abuse or exploitation;
  • Support the organisation in activities related to the Social Laboratory;
  • Participate in the initial mapping of actors and updating of the child protection system profile of the country of intervention;
  • Write progress reports on the activities implemented in collaboration with the partner organisation;
  • Write articles on the work done and the experience of the volunteer cooperation;

*The responsibilities are given as an example and may differ from the elaborated mandate that will be proposed to the candidate. All mandates are developed with the partners and every tasks are based on their needs




  • Canadian residency or citizenship.
  • Undergraduate degree in social work or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of significant work experience in social work;
  • Knowledge of and interest in children's rights, with a focus on the child protection system and access to justice for minors;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French. The person must be able to write, edit, comment and correct texts in French and, for the mandates in Central and South America, a command of written and spoken Spanish
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training courses and provide recommendations;
  • Ability to analyse, organise and summarise
  • Expertise in new information technologies;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Cultural sensitivity and high adaptability;
