Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor

*Open to Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents of Canada only

Deployment periods: September 2022 - February 2023 - June 2023

Working language: French or Spanish (depending on the country of intervention)

Duration of the mandate: 10 months

 

SUMMARY OF THE OFFER

Under the responsibility of the PRIDE Regional Manager, the volunteer advisor will work with the partner organisation to ensure the implementation of individual and organisational capacity building activities within the framework of the volunteer cooperation programme. The candidate will advise, assist and provide technical support to the partner organisation's team in their reflections and work around monitoring, evaluation and learning.  He/She will also contribute to the development of reports and communication articles related to the activities developed and implemented during his/her mandate.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Ensuring that PRIDE programme implementation activities are carried out and that a relationship of trust is established with the partner organisation;
  • Accompanying the partner organisation in setting up and/or revising tools and methods for institutional monitoring, evaluation and learning;
  • Identifying with the organisation's leadership the targets and key performance indicators for relevant projects, programmes or services;
  • Equip members of the partner organisation to assess the targets and performance indicators;
  • Training and coaching members of the organisation in monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and methodologies related to their respective department or sector;
  • Support the organisation in activities related to the Social Laboratory;
  • Participate in the initial mapping of actors and updating of the child protection system profile of the country of intervention;
  • Write progress reports on the activities implemented in collaboration with the partner organisation;
  • Write articles on the work done and the experience of the volunteer cooperation;

*The responsibilities are given as an example and may differ from the elaborated mandate that will be proposed to the candidate. All mandates are developed with the partners and every tasks are based on their needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Canadian residency or citizenship.
  • Undergraduate degree in monitoring, evaluation or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of significant work experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning related functions;
  • Thorough knowledge of results-based management;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French. The person must be able to write, edit, comment and correct texts in French and, for mandates in Central and South
  • America, a command of written and spoken Spanish
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training sessions and to provide recommendations;
  • Ability to analyse, organise and summarise;
  • Expertise in new information technologies;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Cultural sensitivity and high adaptability;
  • Knowledge in international development issues;

Assets

  • Possessing a specialist degree or Master's degree;
  • Knowledge and interest in children's rights, with a focus on the child protection system and access to justice for minors;
  • Knowledge in Arabic or Malagasy (intermediate or advanced level)
  • Experience in working abroad;
  • Experience in voluntary cooperation;
  • Knowledge in gender equality principles;
  • Knowledge in results-based management and the human rights-based approach;
  • Knowledge in international development issues
  • Knowledge in security measures in international cooperation
