Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor

SUMMARY OF THE OFFER : 

The International Bureau for Children's Rights (IBCR), a Canadian NGO dedicated to the protection and promotion of children's rights, is looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Advisor to support its partner organization, Enda Jeunesse Action, as part of its PRIDE volunteer cooperation programme.

Through this mandate, share your skills and expertise to advise, assist, and train the Enda Jeunesse Action team in monitoring, evaluation and learning to enable them to carry out their mission for children's rights. The mandate includes the development and revision of monitoring and evaluation tools and the improvement of existing processes, among other tasks.

A member of the Enda Third World Network, Enda Jeunesse Action works to create a just and united world, in which children and young people, as actors of their own development, can develop in dignity in their community. Enda Jeunesse Action works in particular to promote children's rights, in particular the right to participation, to ensure that these rights are better taken into account in public policies through training and advocacy. Enda also works actively on the social and educational reintegration of the most vulnerable children.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The volunteer will be responsible for : 

  • Supporting Enda Youth Action in :
  • The development and revision of monitoring and evaluation tools
  • The implementation of a harmonised data collection system
  • The improvement of organisational management processes and the design of related tools
  • The development of a strategic plan through workshops to reflect on and define the organisation's strategic axes
  • Strengthening the process of capitalising on the organisation's experiences and good practices (clarification, creation of related tools, etc.)
  • Strengthening the partner organisation's capacity in action research and monitoring and evaluation techniques that adopt an inclusive approach favouring the participation of girls, boys and other marginalised groups
  • Develop and deliver training in the use of data collection and monitoring and evaluation tools, as well as in data analysis and reporting
  • Support the strengthening of the partner organisation in work organisation, information management, communications and any other activities related to its expertise

Other tasks related to the PRIDE project:

  • Support the start-up of the PRIDE Social Laboratory activities
  • Participate in the mapping of child protection actors in Senegal
  • Write progress reports on the activities carried out during the mandate
  • Participate in the promotion of international volunteering in Canada by participating in IBCR's communication efforts (writing articles or blog posts on the volunteering experience, videos, interviews, events...)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in project management, organisational management, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) or equivalent
  • At least 2-3 years experience in project outcome evaluation methods
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and tools in the Outlook environment (Teams, mail, SharePoint, Forms, etc.) and Google (Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.).

People skills :

  • High adaptability and ability to be flexible in the face of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and participatory skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, multi-task and be proactive
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and gender equality
  • Promotion of a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the partner organisation's team and with other volunteers

Strengths:

  • Experience in a developing country or in international cooperation
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in human and/or children's rights
  • Knowledge of gender equality principles
