Communication and resource mobilisation advisor

SUMMARY OF THE OFFER : 

The International Bureau for Children's Rights (IBCR), a Canadian NGO dedicated to the protection and promotion of children's rights, is seeking, as part of its PRIDE volunteer cooperation program, a Communications and Resource Mobilization Advisor to support its partner, the Association des juristes sénégalaises (AJS).

Through this mandate, share your skills and expertise to advise, support, and train the AJS team in communication and resource mobilization to support them in the implementation of their mission. The mandate includes strengthening strategies, developing and revising related tools and supporting the daily implementation of actions.

ABOUT THE PARTNER

The Association des juristes sénégalaises (AJS) is a civil society organisation that works for the promotion and protection of human rights, in particular those of women and children. AJS has a consultative status with the Senegalese government, which allows it to directly influence public authorities in relation to its mission. AJS has several "rights shops" as well as a legal advice and assistance centre for the most vulnerable populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES : 

The volunteer will be responsible for : 

  • Supporting the Association of Senegalese Jurists (AJS) in :
  • Carrying out a diagnosis of the organisation's communication and identifying its needs and those of its partners in terms of tools and media
  • Developing the organisation's communication strategy, in conjunction with the permanent team
  • Designing the communication tools and materials identified in the action plan
  • Definition of a graphic charter for the organisation's key documents
  • Development and implementation of public relations, media and awareness-raising and promotional strategies according to the partner's needs
  • Designing, writing and producing press kits and the organisation's annual press review
  • The organisation and promotion of press conferences around the organisation's events and projects
  • Searching for new sources of funding and preparing funding applications
  • Managing and leading networks of associated partners (foundations and companies) and institutional partnerships
  • On the basis of targeted projects identified by the team, proposing a pilot communication strategy and designing appropriate media
  • Support the person in charge of communications within the partner's team in capitalising on and disseminating experiences and innovative initiatives via social networks
  • Provide technical support in the writing and layout of the annual activity report and the improvement of the website
  • Monitor funding opportunities
  • Propose innovative solutions for the development of projects and the search for new partners
  • Develop monitoring and reporting tools for communication and fundraising activities and ensure their use by the different teams

Other tasks related to the PRIDE project :

  • Support the animation of the PRIDE Social Laboratory activities
  • Write progress reports on the activities carried out during the mandate
  • Participate in the promotion of international volunteering in Canada by participating in IBCR's communication efforts (writing articles or blog posts on the volunteering experience, videos, interviews, events...)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

Requirements :

Technical skills :

  • Certificate, Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in communications, public relations or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of significant work experience in communications, philanthropy or other relevant experience related to the mandate
  • Experience in event organization and facilitation
  • Proven experience in designing communication strategies and tools
  • Experience in partnership management and/or project management
  • Perfect command of written and spoken French
  • Excellent writing skills and impeccable spelling in French. The person recruited must be able to write, revise, comment and correct texts in French.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and of tools in the Outlook environment (Teams, mail, SharePoint, Forms, etc.) and Google (Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.).

  • High adaptability and ability to be flexible in the face of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and participatory skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, multi-task and be proactive
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and gender equality
  • Promotion of a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the partner organisation's team and with other volunteers
