“UNICEF is outraged by a report that a 12-year-old boy from Shirin Tagab district, Kohsayyad village, in the northern province of Faryab, was brutally flogged by a member of an anti-government element,” UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan Herve Ludovic De Lys said in a statement.
“The young boy suffered injuries to his back, legs and feet, and is traumatized by this vicious attack,” he said. “UNICEF, with its local partners, is providing urgent assistance to the child and his family, including psychosocial support, medical care as well as other immediate needs,” he added.
