2019-2020 edition of the Report to Parliament on the Government of Canada’s International Assistance (IAR)

The Report was tabled in Parliament on April 16, 2021 in accordance with the requirements set out in the Official Development Assistance Accountability Act.

This Report presents a comprehensive review of the Government of Canada’s international assistance undertaken by 20 federal departments, agencies and institutions in partnership with our Canadian and international partners.

The Report summarizes activities and results according to the Action Areas of the Feminist International Assistance Policy and by geographic regions. The IAR contains results data, info-graphics and a selection of success stories to engage and inform readers of the many activities and actions supported by Canada, along with specific sections highlighting how Canada delivers its international assistance, innovative approaches and a summary of partner organizations.

The necessity and strategic importance of Canada’s international assistance and its areas of targeted focus were uniquely highlighted this past year with the COVID-19 pandemic. While these efforts will be expanded upon in next year’s Report, it is an important reminder of why Canada’s investments across the spectrum of development, humanitarian action, peace and security and international financial institutions matter to Canadians in tangible ways.
