Gabriel Faye

With a Master’s degree in Business Law from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Gabriel then attended the National Police School of Senegal, from which he graduated as a Police Commissioner.

After serving for several years in the Senegalese Police, as Chief of the Surveillance Division (an anti-terrorist division), and driven by an intention to embrace an international career, Gabriel returned to Cheikh A. Diop University to obtain another Master’s degree in International Relations before being recruited by the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), as a Security Specialist.

With UNDSS, Gabriel had a 21 year career as a UN System Security Advisor (UNSMS) in several countries, some of them in crisis such as; Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, DR Congo, Haiti and Burundi.

In December 2020, Gabriel decided to take early retirement from UNDSS, and moved back to Montreal, but continued to work with UN Agencies as an International Security Consultant. In this capacity, he travelled to Haiti again in August 2021, for a security assessment mission for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Gabriel is very interested in security assistance to humanitarian operations in an emergency and/or crisis context and as such has become very familiar with the work of INGOs. He was recruited in March 2022, by the IBCR, as an International Health and Safety Advisor.

Gabriel is fluent in French and English.
