The Bureau was invited to take part in the fourth preparatory meeting for the 2017 UN Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial Conference which will be held in November. The purpose of this donor conference is to discuss improvements to UN peacekeeping operations. Over 500 delegates from more than 70 countries and international organisations are expected to gather at the upcoming Defence Ministerial Conference in Vancouver. Many topics were adressed during the preparatory meeting such as the accountability of countries supplying troops and police forces in addressing the sexual exploitation committed by UN peacekeepers as well as the actions that need to be done to face child protection challenges. The Bureau was able to contribute to various recommendations regarding capacity-building, prevention, coordination, information-sharing and the fight against impunity.
