BURKINA FASO: 1,950 FUTURE POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE FIRST RIGHTS COURSE ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

By Martin Causin, project manager in Burkina Faso

Yesterday morning took place the official launch of the first courses on children’s rights, at the National Police School in Ouagadougou.

As part of a multi-annual project (2015-2020) to strengthen the capacities of the professionals of justice, security forces and social work funded by Global Affairs Canada, the IBCR has developed in close collaboration with Burkinabe police partners and other sectors, an innovative 30-hour training package. It is closer to the needs of police officers.

This practical and comprehensive training integrates audiovisual tools for scenarios, questions, and enriched exchanges.

1,950 future judicial police officers, gathered in classes of 70 students, thus began to benefit from this first course so that the rights of the child could be better reflected and integrated into their professional practice.
